I don’t tend to paint the same subject over and over. I really need to change it up and challenge myself — it keeps the work fresh and keeps me excited about painting.

The last two pieces I finished were the stag and the fox, which felt strong and grounding. But with tomorrow being Valentine’s Day, I just felt drawn towards flowers. Something softer. Something full of warmth and life.

This is Study of Meadow Light I.
It’s all about warm light moving through wild pink meadow flowers — colour, movement and that feeling of standing in a field when the light is just right.
